What Could Be Better Than The Circus?

Ticket anyone? It came to our attention that Paige and Kaylee had never been to the circus, so we decided to buy tickets this year.

Matt was a little vocal about this decision because the circus was going to be in town while he was out of town. He claimed that he couldn't remember being taken to the circus and that we probably did it when he was just a baby, therefore, robbing him of precious circus memories.

Sarah, never the shy one, felt pretty much the same since she would be out of town too.

Well, the answer to what could be better than the circus is........the ANTICIPATION of course!

This is the circus train that transports all of the animals that perform in the circus.

We could hardly wait for the doors to the US Airways Center (aka: the great and spacious building) to open.

Who needs souvenirs? Not us, we were just happy to be there.

We were told that if we got to the circus an hour early that they would let us clown around. We couldn't believe it, but it was really true.

See those ladies dressed in yellow riding the elephants? Well, yellow just happens to be Allie's favorite color and after watching the whole circus she has decided that what she really wants to do in life is be in the circus and ride the elephants. A girl can dream can't she?

Cuetzalan...Now that´s a Mouthful!

Thanks for the blog post! I love and miss you guys! Everything is still going great in Mexico!

We went to Cuetzalan last Saturday. It´s beautiful! The best part ever was the waterfalls. Look how gorgeous it is!

These guys are brave, I would never apply for a job like this! Kids, do not try this at home.


After the voldadores (the guys attached to the ropes...loose translation, ha! ha!) we saw a traditional dance and took a picture with these cute kids.

I´m doing my best to teach the kids, learn Spanish (I´ve got a lot to learn), and enjoy being in Mexico. I´ll be back in the U.S. on August 13th...that´s so soon, I can´t believe it´s already been a month!

Gone, But Not Forgotten

By our count, Meg has been in Mexico for a whole month now. Ole!

This is a picture of her desk in the classroom that she taught in last year in Provo, Utah. We hope the children in Mexico are being good to Meagan because we know she is being good to them.

But, we can't wait for her to return to the good, old, U.S.A., where they don't serve mole and the ice cream sandwiches are bigger than horses. We love you, Meg!

EFY Stands For Extra Funny Youth!

See these 2 goofballs? Matt and Sarah are laughing because they have arrived in Flagstaff, used the "facilities" and they are minutes away from a week of EFY!

This is Matt entertaining himself by wearing Sarah's glasses while we are driving to Flagstaff.

This is Sarah mocking me when I admitted before we even got out of the city that I needed to use the "facilities". About 30 miles outside of Flagstaff Matt said that he needed to use the "facilities" and Sarah said, "Well, if two of you have to go then we should probably pull over." Let me translate for any of you that did not just understand what she said. That is her clever way of seeming concerned for us, when in reality, she really needs to use the "facilities" herself. Of course being the grown up that I am, I refused to stop because a) we were pretty close to arriving at our destination, b) I had a point to prove to Sarah that I really could make it the whole trip without stopping like a baby and c) she started the whole thing by teasing me. Matt being the sensible young man that he is told Sarah that she should "apologize to Mother" so that we could stop, but that just made Sarah laugh even more. So, I did the only thing that I could think to do. I turned the AC on full blast to try to break Sarah, but she just laughed even more. I wonder who she gets her stubbornness from? Probably Richard!

This is Matt and Sarah being checked in at EFY. This year they are taking extra precautions because of the swine flu. All participants had their temperature taken and signed a paper stating that they were not experiencing any flu-like symptoms.

At last, Matt and Sarah are happy to have passed their examination and get their EFY t-shirts. They read in the newspaper that there are t-shirts being sold in Mexico that say I Survived The Swine Flue - But I'm Still A Pig! Lets just say that they are going to be very disappointed if Meagan is not able to bring some of those t-shirts home as souvenirs when she comes home in August. No pressure, Meg!

Don't ya wish you had a Dad like mine?!

This is our Mom's Dad, Max Blazzard.  He is a hoot and we love him.  We got to visit him on Father's Day and hear some more of his entertaining stories.  

Grandpa Blazzard has so many good stories and he can always make us laugh.

Ten things my Dad taught me!

1. There's always room for a cookie.

2. It's not a vacation unless you get lost.

3. Cluffs never quit!

4. Shortcuts aren't always shorter, but they are always an adventure.

5. Krispy Kreme donuts are worth the extra money.

6. When you're done wearing your shoes put them back in the closet. 

7. Be a hard worker.

8. Always take your hat off during a prayer.

9. Naps are REFRESHING!

10. Sit down at the dinner table and act like you're going to stay. 

Our Dad is so funny! Here are some things that we remember about him;

* I remember visiting you at work when you were a groundskeeper.  I loved seeing where you worked!  The smell of fresh cut grass always reminds me of you!  Love you!  -Meagan

* I remember when I was little my dad took us to the park and told us all to go to the bathroom before we left. Once we got there, he was the one who ended up running home! -Allie

Happy Father´s Day!

Even though I´m pretty far away, I was still thinking about you yesterday. Happy Father´s Day! At least, I think it was Father´s Day, I´m never quite sure what day is what down here. (The sign I´m holding says Happy Father´s Day, in case you were wondering)

I saw a tree at Monte Alban that made me think of you. It has leaves growing out of its leaves. How´s that for cool! It´s almost as cool as the caterpillars you found on the grape vine in our backyard! Love you Dad! Hope you had a great day!

My Adventures in Oaxaca

This past weekend we went to Oaxaca. My favorite part of the trip was going to the temple and doing baptisms for the dead. Even when I feel like I don´t really belong, I always feel at home at the temple and at church.

My second favorite part was going to the ruins in Monte Alban. Look how amazing they are!

We stayed in a hostel while we were there. Here´s a picture of the whole group. Everyone went on the trip except for 2 teachers. My host family laughed when they saw I was one of the tallest in the group. Yep, that´s me!

It´s Been Two Weeks!

My host family is so nice! They have two little kids, ages 4 and 7 who love to follow me around and ask me how to say things in English (¿Como se dice...?)

We went to the zoo last Wednesday and the animals are all super close and very tame. I pet a white tiger, blank panther, and jaguar and some of the teachers fed the monkeys candy (they love it, just in case you were wondering).

Earlier last week my stomach was feeling like a lion was inside. Grandma Blazzard, thank you bunches for the medicine, it´s already come in handy. You are a lifesaver!!!

I felt a little like this ostrich, surprised and a bit out of my element last week but now I´m adjusting to everything (even my stomach is starting to get the hang of things...well, maybe not, but hey, it´s all part of the experience!)

Saturday, June 6th, me and the other teachers visited the pyramids and a few churches in Cholula and saw the sights in Puebla. It looks like this ancient guy was just as squirty as me! Ha! Ha! Maybe he´s my ancestor!

We May Not Have It All Together - But Together We Have It All!

There are 8 of us and when 1 of us (or more) is away it seems so weird!


Meg came home from Provo for a few days at the end of April on her way to Mexico to teach English for 4 months, but because of the swine flu outbreak she ended up being home for about a month. It was nice to have everyone home even if it was just for a short time.

Finally, on May 27, Meg got cleared to enter Mexico City and left before Sarah and I got home from girl's camp.

We're sure she will have a wonderful time, but we think she will look forward to seeing this sign again in the Fall.

Matt couldn't believe it when he heard what the Stake had planned for the young men this summer. They didn't just want him to ride through the desert on a horse with no name - that would be too easy.

They planned for him and all of the other YM in the Stake to go on a 100 mile wilderness adventure! The 100 miles will be split between hiking, canoeing, cycling and repelling. Each young man received a "mission call" for the week. Matt was called to the Seattle, Washington Mission. This adventure is going to help the YM to learn to rely on the Lord and to know that with His help they can accomplish anything. Matt left on Monday morning and will return on Saturday.

Hurry home, Matt. Your picture is starting to get fuzzy in our memories. We miss you! We are excited for you to come home, but we aren't excited for all of the camping gear, dirty clothes or that pungent camping smell.

Last summer, Richard and Matt both hiked the Grand Canyon and had a lot of fun.

Today, Richard is leaving to go and see all of the YM in the Ward, take them a treat and see just how bad they really do smell. So, for now only 5 of the 8 of us are home.
